Shahid Kapoor feels ‘very upset’ when people assume he didn’t struggle with dad Pankaj Kapur’s influence: I’m self-made

Shahid Kapoor, a prominent Bollywood actor with a career spanning over two decades, recently shared insights into his challenging days in the film industry. Despite being the son of renowned actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem, Shahid emphasized that his path to success was far from easy.

Shahid Kapoor has revealed that such comments make him ‘very upset.’ The notion that Shahid had it simply due to his father’s fame deeply upsets him. The actor clarified that his father never made any calls on his behalf to secure work in the industry. Shahid made his debut in 2003, starring in the romantic comedy “Ishq Vishk.” Since then, he has solidified his position with notable films like “Jab We Met,” “Vivaah,” “Badmaash Company,” “Haider,” and “Kabir Singh,” to name a few.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shahid expressed his frustration, stating, “I’m one of those self-made guys who people think had it easy because his papa was an actor. And I get very upset with that. I’m like, ‘Hey guys, you don’t know my struggle.’ Just because my father was Pankaj Kapur doesn’t mean my journey was effortless. In fact, I didn’t even live with him. I lived with my mom.”

Shahid further revealed that his father never used his connections to facilitate his entry into the industry. He explained, “He (Pankaj) was a very proud man. He would never tell his son, ‘Let me make a call and arrange a meeting for you.’ He was not like that. He had fought his way up and was too proud to ask for support. We never discussed it, and it never came up. So, it has been 20 years of immense hard work.”

Shahid’s upcoming film, “Bloody Daddy,” directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is set to release on June 8 exclusively on Jio Cinemas. The movie also stars Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, and Diana Penty.

In summary, Shahid Kapoor’s journey in Bollywood has been marked by perseverance and determination. Despite his familial connections, he has faced his fair share of struggles and challenges. Shahid’s dedication to his craft and self-made success deserve recognition, making him a notable figure in the industry. Don’t miss his latest release, “Bloody Daddy,” as he continues to captivate audiences with his talent and versatility.
